RAMALLAH, April 30, 2018 (WAFA) –The killing of three Palestinians by Israeli forces in the besieged Gaza Strip and the Palestinian National Council’s session dominated the front page headlines in Palestinian Arabic dailies on Monday.
The dailies reported that Israeli forces killed three Palestinians during participation in the Great March of Return protests along Gaza border.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added that Israeli forces detained another Palestinian after injuring him.
Israeli forces reportedly killed the three Palestinians in two separate incidents. In the first incident, soldiers open fire at two Palestinians, who purportedly attempted to cross the border, killing one and wounding the other.
In the second incident, soldiers opened fire at two Palestinians, who purportedly hurled explosive devices at soldiers, killing them.
On the other hand, the dailies reported that the Palestinian National Council (PNC) is scheduled to hold its 23rd session today in Ramallah.
Al-Quds added that President Mahmoud Abbas is slated to deliver an “important” speech during the PNC’s session.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida described the PNC’s session as “historic” and hailed it as a “victory for Palestinian legitimacy”.
It added that Palestinian popular committees in refugee camps appreciated Abbas’ leading role in safeguarding the national constants.
Furthermore, al-Quds reported the Health Ministry in Gaza warning that it was facing the largest shortage of medicines in Gaza for 11 years.
According to al-Ayyam, Israeli military has refused to disclose open-fire rules for Gaza border Great March of Return protests.
Al-Quds said that Israeli occupation authorities started the implementation of a decision to remove a part of the historic Bab al-Rahma Islamic cemetery, next to East Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
According to al-Ayyam, Israeli settlers vandalized Palestinian homes and vehicles in Turmus Ayya, a village to the northeast of Ramallah.
It added Israeli occupation authorities decided to revoke the residency status of four Palestinian lawmakers who have been denied entry into Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israeli military bulldozers uprooted olive trees and leveled lands in Bardala village, northeast of Tubas, in the Jordan Valley.
It reported Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat stating that the US President Donald Trump’s so-called “Deal of the Century” was unacceptable and unrealistic for Palestinians.
It also reported member of the PLO Executive Committee Ahmad Majdalni stating that the scheme currently promoted by the US administration involves the separation of Gaza from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
Moreover, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that the Civil Affairs Commission secured Israel’s approval to transfer a wounded Palestinian from Gaza to the West Bank to receive necessary medical treatment.
It added that Israeli forces detained 17 Palestinians during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank.
Finally, it reported Russian ambassador to Palestine Haidar Aghanin stating the relocation of the US embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem contradicted international law.
