GAZA, April 26, 2018 (WAFA) – Thousands of mourners Thursday took part in the funeral procession of journalist Ahmad Abu Hussein, who was shot by Israeli forces on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip on April 13.
Thousands participated in the funeral of Abu Hussein and chanted slogans condemning the continuing Israeli violations, which included the unlawful killing of about 35 Palestinians, including two journalists, in the past four weeks alone.
Nasser Abu Baker, head of the Journalists Syndicate, said the unlawful killing of the two journalists in Gaza amount to an assassination because they were wearing press jackets at the time they were shot by the Israeli army.
He noted that Israel has killed 24 Palestinian journalists and committed more than 2500 violations against the Palestinian media institution since 2013.
Meanwhile, dozens of journalists gathered at Al-Manara Square in the city Ramallah, in the central West Bank, to honor their deceased colleague Ahmad Abu Hussein.
Abu Hussein is the second journalist to be killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of the ongoing Great March of Return protests on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
Prior to him, photojournalist Yasser Murtaja was shot dead by the Israeli army on April 6 while he was covering the non-violent protests on the eastern border of the Strip.
