SALFIT, January 25, 2018 (WAFA) - Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, visited Kifl-Hares village in Salfit Governorate to celebrate the completion of the project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
In a press release, the representative office said that the grant of $79,550 was extended to Palestinian Youth Union to construct basic facilities for people with disabilities, such as toilets and ramps.
It said, “This project aims at encouraging the social involvement of the students with disabilities at eight public schools and one cultural center in Salfit and Jerusalem governorates. Upon the completion of this project, about 64 persons with disabilities will benefit from the improved facilities in the targeted institutions.”
In his speech, Okubo emphasized Japan’s firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.
Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.8 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010.
