RAMALLAH, January 25, 2018 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas gave orders on Thursday to follow up on the fate of Palestinian journalist Muheeb Nowati, who has been missing in Syria since 2011.
Abbas told the relevant parties to get in touch with the authorities in Syria in order to follow up on the fate of Nowati.
Nowati’s family appealed on Palestine TV to help located its son’s whereabouts.
Nowati is a Palestinian journalist and writer from Gaza Strip who left Gaza with his family on 2007 for asylum in Norway. They were granted the Norwegian nationality and residency there.
He arrived in Syria on December 2010 and on January 2011 his family lost contact with him.
Interpol reported that he was arrested in Syria, according to sources. However, his fate remains unknown.
