Israeli forces detain 16 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, January 24, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday detained 16 Palestinians during multiple predawn raids across the West Bank, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli forces detained three Palestinians; including a man and his wife, after storming their homes in the old city of Hebron.

Two other Palestinians were detained during separate raids into al-Arroub refugee camp and Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

In Bethlehem district, Israeli troops detained a Palestinian after ransacking his home during a raid that triggered clashes in Dheisheh refugee camp, south of Bethlehem.

Troops opened fire at local youths who protested the raid and attempted to block troops’ passage. No injuries were reported.

PPS said another one was detained from Bethlehem district.

Meanwhile, Israeli units raided al-Eizariya town, east of Jerusalem, and detained five Palestinians, including a father and his son.

In the central West Bank, forces rounded up a Palestinian after breaking into his family home in Kufr Malik town, northeast of Ramallah.

Forces conducted a similar raid into Nilin town, west of Ramallah, detaining another.

In the northern West Bank, forces detained a Palestinian after breaking and wreaking havoc on his family home during a raid into Salfit-district town of Deir Istiya.

Another Palestinian was detained from the Jenin city neighborhood of Wad Burqin.

Residents said Israeli soldiers leading tracking dogs surrounded Wad Burqin and al-Hadaf neighborhoods before violently storming several homes, searching property and interrogating the households.
