JENIN, January 24, 2018 (WAFA) – An Israeli army unit raided early Wednesday a neighborhood of the northern West Bank city of Jenin where the army had conducted last week a major operation that left one Palestinian dead, according to local sources.
They said a large force raided Wad Burqin neighborhood and Jenin refugee camp apparently looking for a Palestinian the army attempted to arrest in last week’s operation but was able to get away.
The army raided Wad Burqin on Thursday and surrounded the Jarrar family residences in an attempt to capture a member of the family the army believes was responsible for a shooting attack near Nablus two weeks earlier that left an Israeli settler dead.
In the Thursday raid, the army killed Ahmad Ismail Jarrar, 31, and demolished four buildings that belong to the extended Jarrar family. However, the main person the army was reportedly after, Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, was not home during the operation and therefore he escaped arrest or possible assassination.
The Israeli army had not stopped looking for Ahmad Nasr Jarrar since then, conducting raids of the city and terrorizing its population.
The local sources said the Israeli army used dogs in the latest raid and thorough search of several houses in the neighborhood and refugee camp. The search was focused on the Jarrar family homes where the sources said the army ransacked most of them as they searched for Ahmad Nasr.
One person identified as Odai Jaber Jarrar was detained after raiding his family home, they said.
