Palestinian farmer ordered by Israel to evict his land

BETHLEHEM, January 22, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli military government ordered a farmer from the Bethlehem area to evict his land under the claim it was state-owned, a local source said on Monday.

Hasan Breijieh, from the anti-wall, anti-settlements committee in Bethlehem, told WAFA that the so-called civil administration, the Israeli military government’s arm in the occupied Palestinian territories, ordered the Jubran family not to return to its 50-dunum plot agricultural land because it was owned by the state.

Meanwhile, the military government ordered Mohammad Ayesh, from the same area, to stop work on a well he was building in his land, which he recently regained by a court order after it was seized by the military government. The civil administration claimed Ayesh did not obtain a permit to build a well.

Construction in areas designated as C, which make more than 60 percent of the area of the West Bank, is under full Israeli military control. The military does not issue building permits for Palestinians in those areas, which Israel hopes to one day annex after filling them with Jewish settlers and emptying them from their Palestinian inhabitants.
