Clashes erupt along Gaza borders, injuries reported

 

GAZA, January 19, 2018 (WAFA) – At least two Palestinians were shot and injured with live bullets and others suffocated during clashes that erupted Friday in multiple locations along Gaza borders, said sources.

Israeli forces stationed at military watchtowers along Gaza borders opened live fire at a group of Palestinian youth when they approached the border fence to the east of Jabalia town, north of the Strip, shooting and injuring one in the foot.

He was transferred to hospital where his condition was described as moderate. Several youths suffocated after inhaling tear gas fired at them by the soldiers.

Another youth sustained a similar injury and several others suffocated during similar clashes that broke out with Israeli Soldiers stationed at watchtowers in Nahal Oz military base, east of Gaza city. His medical condition was described as moderate.

Similar clashes were also witnessed to the east of Khan Yonuis  and Rafah cities, south of the Strip, as well as to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp, in central Gaza.

For the seventh Friday in a row, Palestinians have been protesting against the US declaration of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

Sixteen Palestinians have been shot dead by the Israeli army in clashes that began after the US declaration on Jerusalem.
