Palestinian suspected in the Nablus-area attack killed in Jenin

JENIN, January 18, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli army shot and killed on Thursday a Palestinian man suspected of being behind an attack earlier in the month near Nablus in the northern West Bank that left an Israeli settler dead, Palestinian and Israeli reports said. The Palestinian was identified as Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 26, from Jenin.

Reports said a large army force surrounded Jarrar’s family home in Wadi Burqin neighborhood, west of the city of Jenin, opening heavy gunfire and shooting grenades at the home.

An exchange of gunfire occurred and lasted for over one hour, said Palestinian sources, before Jarrar was gunned down. The Ministry of Health confirmed the death of Jarrar.

Army bulldozers demolished Jarrar’s house and two other nearby homes that belonged to the same family. The raid lasted all night until the early morning hours.

Jarrar’s father, Nasr, was also shot dead during a similar clash with Israeli army in Tubas town, southeast of Jenin, in April 2002.

Israeli media have indicated that Jarrar had links to the fatal shooting of an Israeli settler near Nablus last week.
