CAIRO, January 16, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Tuesday arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to attend Al-Azhar International Conference in Support of Jerusalem.
The Egyptian Minister of Health Ahmad Emad, the Palestinian ambassador to Egypt Diab al-Louh along with the Palestinian Embassy’s crew in Cairo received Abbas in the international airport of Cairo.
Abbas is accompanied by a number of Palestinian senior officials, including the presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh and diplomatic affairs advisor Majdi al-Khaldi.
The conference will be held on January 17 – 18, to support Jerusalem against US President Donald Trump‘s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
It is expected that 86 countries will attend the conference, which is held under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayeb met a number of experts to prepare for the international conference as a practical step to confirm his rejection of the US decision and to support the Arab and Palestinian identity of the Holy City.
