RAMALLAH, January 14, 2018 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah Sunday said that the US positions, including the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and threats to cut financial aid to UNRWA, aim to liquidate Palestinians rights and blackmail the PA to accept any deal.
Hamdallah warned of threats to change US policies towards UNRWA, saying they come as a blatant violation of refugees’ rights. He said this approach would affect stability in the whole region, and not only in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
This came during a meeting held at the prime minister’s office in Ramallah with Pierre Krähenbühl, Commissioner General for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), where they discussed the latest developments regarding US threats against UNRWA.
Hamdallah stressed the need for the international community to take a clear stance regarding UNRWA, and to guarantee its continued provision of aid for Palestinian refugees, and without any reductions.
