JERUSALEM, January 4, 2018 (WAFA) – The Jerusalem District Electricity Company Thursday declared a state of emergency in all branches in preparation for a low pressure system expected to affect the region starting Thursday’s night.

The company said in response to several warnings by meteorological services that the company has declared readiness to deal with any failures or power cuts during the upcoming few days, within the company‘s capabilities.

It said in a statement that the company has provided free emergency numbers to receive peoples’ complaints and reports, as follows: 1800211511 or 1800900900, or the following numbers: 6269333 or 2947650.

Affected people can also contact the company via its website www.jdeco.net or through the company’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jdecops.

The company appealed to people to rationalize power usage as much as possible during the storm, especially at peak hours between 10 am to 2 pm, and between 5 pm to 8 pm, in order to reduce interruptions and maintain the stability of load on power networks.

The Jerusalem Electricity Company called on its customers to adhere to the general safety rules and guidelines, namely cleaning roofs and balconies and removing any objects that may cause damage to the electrical grid and wires, especially with strong winds during stormy weather.

It advised people to charge emergency lights and batteries for hand lamps to use in the event of power outage and avoid using candles to avoid fire threat.

The company also called for regulating the use of electrical devices, such as the clothes drier, dry washer, washing machine and electric boiler, and avoid using these devices during the peak hours of morning and evening.

It said that overloading the networks will force the company to rotate power supply between areas, which means longer power cuts affecting more people.
