Weather: Partly cloudy, rain and thunderstorms expected

 

RAMALLAH, January 4, 2018 (WAFA) – Weather on Thursday is partially cloudy, occasionally dusty and cold as temperatures are set to drop and become lower than the seasonal average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Occasional rain showers are expected to fall in the afternoon and later evolve into steady rain and thunderstorms. Wind is southwesterly to westerly and moderate to active with occasional gust. Sea waves are medium to high.

Temperature in Jerusalem is set to reach a high of 12°C and a low of 6°C on Thursday and in Ramallah a high of 11°C and a low of 5°C. In Jericho and the Jordan Valley, temperature is set to reach a high of 20°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 11°C in Gaza.

Cloudy, windy and chilly conditions are expected for Friday as temperature is expected to further drop. Torrential rain is expected to fall with thunderstorms and occasional hail.

PMD expects temperatures to rise, yet mostly cloudy and chilly conditions continue to prevail on Saturday. Sporadic and occasionally torrential rain showers are expected in the afternoon.

Temperatures are set to further rise on Sunday with mainly sunny, relatively cold and clear skies.

PMD warns people against gusty winds that could reach 80 km/hour as well as against flooding in valleys and low areas. Drivers are also warned against sliding on roads due to hail and of low visibility due to fog and low clouds.
