RAMALLAH, January 2, 2018 (WAFA) –  Official invitations have been sent out to members of the Palestinian Central Council (PCC) and the various political factions, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, as well as guests to attend the PCC meeting scheduled for January 14 in Ramallah, the head of the Political Committee in the Palestinian National Council (PNC), Khalid Musmar, said on Tuesday.

He told Voice of Palestine radio that Hamas was first invited orally but an official invitation was also sent out on Tuesday to attend the meeting, stressing that Hamas has the right to decide how it wants to attend the PCC meeting.

Musmar said the agenda of the meeting includes many important issues and proposals that will be discussed as well as the political orientation for the next phase, national reconciliation and the need to achieve them to meet the challenges ahead.

The PCC, the second highest legislative body after the PNC, was called on to convene a session to discuss the next phase in Palestinian strategy following the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
