UPDATE: Israeli troops raid Ramallah village

RAMALLAH, December 31, 2017 (WAFA) - Israeli forces Sunday closed off the entrance to the town of Deir Nitham, to the west of Ramallah and raided the village’s houses.

Safi Tamimi, who is in charge of the Land Defense committee, told WAFA that Israeli military vehicles raided the village at dawn with no reasoning and closed off the village entrance.

He said soldiers raided several houses and turned two roof tops into military surveillance posts as well as raided the local village’s school.

Later on Sunday, Israeli soldiers raided the village‘s schools and forced the students to leave while they were undergoing their final term exams. The soldiers also distributed leaflets threatening the village‘s residents against any acts of resistance against illegal Israeli settlers from nearby settlements.

Tamimi said the latest developments are expected to lead to clashes in the village with Israeli troops. The village witnessed a similar raid on Saturday and tens of people suffered suffocation due to excessive teargas use.
