RAMALLAH, December 28, 2017 (WAFA) – Fawzi Juneidi,17, who was pictured blindfolded, handcuffed and surrounded by at least 20 heavily armed Israeli soldiers, was released from detention on Wednesday.
Juneidi suffered from a fracture in the shoulder from beating by the soldiers when he was detained on December 7 following protests in Hebron against the US decision recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
That picture went viral on social media and provoked strong reaction worldwide.
Juneidi told WAFA following his release from Ofer military camp near Ramallah where he was received by his family and then taken to Ramallah Medical Complex for a physical checkup that he was beaten and interrogated all night during detention in the Etzion settlement army camp, north of Hebron, where he was taken after his arrest.
He was then transferred to Ofer camp where he was kept until his release.
He said he has pain in his right shoulder from the severe beating he received during interrogation.
