NABLUS, December 26, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities recently installed new 15 housing units in the illegal settlement outpost of Ahya, near the village of Jaloud to the south of Nablus, according to Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the area.
He told WAFA that Israeli authorities also opened new roads and installed water pipes and power poles in the area, which only serve illegal settlers from Ahya and nearby settlement neighborhoods.
Daghlas said the recent settlement activities in the area coincide with the ongoing construction of the new settlement Amehei, nearby, which was approved by the Israeli government to compensate hard-line settlers who were evacuated from Amona outpost in February.
Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israeli settlers are living in Jewish-only settlements in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, in violation of international law.
The estimated 196 government recognized Israeli settlements scattered across the Palestinian territory are all considered illegal under international law.
