RAMALLAH, December 24, 2017 (WAFA) - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Sunday denounced plans promoted by Israeli Construction and Housing Minister, Yoav Galant, to advocate for the construction of 300,000 new housing units illegally in Jerusalem and its surroundings.

The ministry considered this plan “part of Israel’s colonial and expansionist projects implemented by the Israeli government encouraged by the latest announcement of US President Donald Trump’s to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The ministry held Trump fully responsible for any new Israeli settlement measures undertaken by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, their land and holy sites.

The PLO Department of Jerusalem Affairs also warned of the repercussions of such plans pursued by Galant as part of the so-called ‘Greater Jerusalem’ bill.

The “Greater Jerusalem” bill that would see settlements being built in the occupied West Bank, was described by the PLO as illegal under international law.

It stressed the dangers of this ‘aggressive’ plan, which aims at separating the city of Jerusalem, and fragmenting its geographical and demographic unity.
