RAMALLAH, December 24, 2017 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on the death of Sharif al-Abed Shalash, 27, who sustained wounds on Saturday after he was seriously injured by Israeli forces’ fire near the Gaza-Israel border a few days ago.
On a different subject, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israeli Minister of Construction Yoav Galant launched a campaign to advocate for the construction of 300,000 housing units in illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, as part of the so called Israeli “Greater Jerusalem” bill.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Palestinian National Bureau for Defending Land uncovered, in its weekly report, that the Israeli Ministry of Construction and the Jewish National Fund developed a plan for the construction of three illegal settlements in the Jordan Valley area, in occupied West Bank.
Al-Ayyam said Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan said his country will be cooperating with the 128 UN member states who voted in favor of a resolution rejecting US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in the event Trump does not change his decision.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli army quelled a non-violent Santa Clause-themed march to protest against Trump’s decision, at the entrance of Bethlehem city on Saturday.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds quoted chairman of Hamas, Ismail Haniya, who said his party had obtained information that the United States is going to recognize Israel as a state for the Jewish people.
