JERUSALEM, December 22, 2017 (WAFA) – As protesters rallied up across Jerusalem on the third ‘Friday of Rage’ to protest US decision on Jerusalem, Israeli police attacked them, injuring many and detaining two, said WAFA correspondent.

Clashes erupted near Shu’faat refugee camp, in central Jerusalem, after police broke into the camp. Police showered the camp with tear gas canisters and stun grenades, while protesters responded by hurling empty glass bottles and rocks at the soldiers.

According to eyewitnesses, one youth was detained.

Meanwhile, similar clashes took place as forces clamped down on a protest outside Bab al-Amoud, one of the gates of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

A woman sustained head injuries after she was assaulted by the police, while another was detained and lead to an interrogation and detention center in occupied Jerusalem. 

Israeli police quelled a similar protest that took place in old city of Jerusalem against the US decision on Jerusalem.

Thousands of people following Friday prayers in al-Aqsa Mosque took part in the third ‘Friday of Rage’ called for by the Palestinian political factions to protest the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel‘s capital and plans to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Protesters were faced with tear gas canisters and stun grenades once they reached the old city of Jerusalem. Two Palestinians, including a camera man were detained.

Sporadic clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians erupted in other parts of the city as Israeli police used excessive force to disperse protesters.

Israeli police intensified their presence throughout the city since the early morning hours preparing for a third “Friday of rage" against US Jerusalem decision.
