RAMALLAH, December 19, 2017 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to arrive to Riyadh on Tuesday to meet with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
He is then going to travel to France on Thursday for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and other French leaders.
Majdi al-Khalidi, advisor to President Abbas for diplomatic affairs, told Voice of Palestine radio on Tuesday that Abbas is going to the Saudi leaders on Wednesday in order to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian arena following US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the US veto of a draft UN resolution rejecting the decision.
He noted the strong Palestinian-Saudi relations and Saudi Arabia’s position rejecting the US decision on Jerusalem and stressed the need to undertake continuous consultation with all countries given the current situation.
Khalidi added that Abbas is scheduled to visit Paris on Thursday and meet with his French counterpart particularly that Paris has taken a firm position on the two-state solution and opposing altering the status quo in Jerusalem.
He pointed out that Abbas is going to hold a series of meetings with world leaders in January.
