Arab ministerial delegation formed to counter Trump’s Jerusalem announcement

 

CAIRO, December 17, 2017 (WAFA) – Mahmoud Afifi, spokesperson of Secretary-General of the Arab League Sunday said an Arab ministerial delegation was formed to counter US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

He said the committee was formed based on calls made by Jordan, as the Chairman of both the Arab Summit and the Arab peace initiative committee. 

The committee was formed to counter the outcomes and serious consequences of Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and his plan to move the US embassy to it, through diplomatic and media channels. 

Afifi said the delegation includes foreign ministers from Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Arab League.

He added that the delegation is set to hold its first meeting in Amman earlier next week.
