RAMALLAH, December 15, 2017 (WAFA) – Fatah movement vehemently condemned on Friday Israeli forces’ ‘cold-blooded’ killing of a Palestinian youth during clashes earlier today at the northern entrance of al-Bireh city.
Israeli forces opened fire on Mohammed Aqel, in his early 20s, during clashes that erupted at the northern entrance of al-Bireh as forces suppressed youth who demonstrated to protest U.S. President Donald Trump‘s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
A video footage circulating the internet showed the soldiers - standing a few meters away – shooting at Aqel and continuing to fire even after the youth fell to the ground. Paramedics were captured running while carrying the youth on a stretcher after soldiers prevented the ambulances from transferring the youth to a hospital.
Aqel later succumbed to his critical wounds while receiving treatment in the hospital.
Fatah slammed the killing of Aqel as an execution and a crime whose perpetrators must be held accountable. It reiterated its rejection of the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
