Increase in GDP in Palestine during the 1st quarter 2017, says Statistics Bureau

RAMALLAH, June 22, 2017 (WAFA) – Preliminary estimates at constant prices showed an increase of 0.7% in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Palestine during the 1st quarter 2017 compared to the 1st quarter 2016, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

PCBS said GDP increased increase by 0.8% in the West Bank and by 0.4% in the Gaza Strip, compared to the 1st quarter 2016. 

GDP also showed a stability in Palestine compared to the 4th quarter 2016 at constant prices, with a slight increase of 0.1% (base year = 2004). 

GDP for the 1st quarter 2017 at constant prices was $1,505.8 million for the West Bank and $493.4 million for Gaza Strip.

GDP Per Capita

GDP per Capita for Palestine at constant prices was  $431.6 during the 1st quarter 2017., and showed a decrease of 2.1% compared to the 1st quarter 2016.

GDP per Capita in the West Bank was $555.2 at constant prices during the 1st quarter 2017, and showed a decrease by 1.7% during the 1st quarter 2017 compared to the 1st quarter 2016. In the Gaza Strip, GDP per Capita was $257.0 during the 1st quarter 2017, and showed a decrease by 2.8% during the 1st quarter 2017 compared to the 1st quarter 2016.
