Israel postpones release of slain Palestinian activist

RAMALLAH, March 10, 2017 (WAFA) – Israel Friday decided to postpone releasing the body of a slain Palestinian activist to a later date, said Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

PRCS said Israeli authorities postponed releasing the body of Basel al-Araj to his family “until further notice”.

PRCS added that Israeli authorities had notified them of their intent to hand over al-Araj’s body to his family on Friday at 3:00 p.m at al-Walaja military checkpoint near Bethlehem.

Al-Araj, 31, a pharmacist and prominent Palestinian activist, was killed when Israeli forces broke into a home he was hiding inside in al-Bireh city in the central West Bank last Monday.
