RAMALLAH, March 2, 2017 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted on the front page of their Thursday issue the Israeli settler’s killing of a Palestinian near Hebron on allegation the Palestinian had attacked him.
According to the dailies, the Palestinian was identified as Saad Mohammad Ali Qeisiyeh, 24, from Dahriyeh, south of Hebron.
The papers said the settler shot Qeisiyeh after he allegedly had stabbed him causing light wounds. They said, quoting witnesses, Qeisiyeh was left bleeding on the ground until he died while the Israeli medics who rushed to the scene treated he lightly wounded settler.
In other news, al-Ayyam reported on the Israeli municipality’s demolition of a Palestinian building in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiyeh that left three families homeless.
It also reported on Israeli plans for the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem that include building a park that overlooks the Old City, a step the paper said aims at turning that entire area of Mount of Olives into an Israeli area.
The paper also said the Israeli intelligence is warning of an “explosion” among the Palestinians in the absence of a political horizon.
In al-Quds, the daily said the deputy speaker of the Israeli Knesset, the parliament, built a house in the settlement of Nikodim south of Bethlehem on private Palestinian land.
It said, quoting the Palestinian undersecretary of labor, Nasser Qatami, that a Palestinian-Israeli meeting will be held in the middle of this month to discuss the issue of permits for Palestinian workers in Israel to put an end to the middle men who take advantage of the workers to make money.
It said the Knesset postponed for the third time a vote on a law what would ban the Muslim call for prayer from mosques’ loudspeakers.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida continued its critical reporting of the Istanbul conference quoting the Palestinian government saying last week’s conference will increase the Palestinian division.
It said Jordan protested to Israel violations of the sanctity of al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem by Jewish fanatics as well as Israeli construction in the Umayyad Palaces adjacent to the wall of the Mosque.
It also said the Palestinian Central Elections Commission has announced the timetable for the May 13 local elections that will be held in only the West Bank.
It said the political factions in Lebanon have called on non-Palestinian groups to leave Ein al-Helweh refugee camp that witnessed armed clashes over the past few days.
