NABLUS, February 9, 2017 (WAFA) – A specialized team of doctors and medics from Italy has performed 31 complex plastic and reconstruction surgeries on Palestinian patients at Rafidiya hospital in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, a Health Ministry statement said on Thursday.
The six-member team of doctors, anesthesiologist and nurses from Italy completed a week-long visit, treating burned and deformed children at the Nablus hospital.
Led by plastic surgeon Enrico Robotti, the team included plastic surgeons Denis Codazzior and Omar Jaber, anesthesiologist Alberto Penigni and nurses Isabella Pesenti and Elisabitta Piazzalunga. The team volunteered in coordination with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and the Health Ministry’s International Cooperation Unit.
The team has been reportedly volunteering with the PCRF for over a decade and has provided hundreds of children with expert reconstructive surgeries.
The Health Ministry noted that many international medical delegations (teams) have performed surgeries for Palestinians in several specialties and appreciated their hard humanitarian work for Palestine.
It also said that the teams provided local doctors with important knowledge in the fields they performed in.
