Israeli forces detain 15 Palestinians in Jerusalem, West Bank

RAMALLAH, February 8, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained 15 Palestinians during overnight raids in several areas in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The PPS said that forces detained five Palestinians from East Jerusalem, four from Bethlehem, and three from Hebron area.

Soldiers also detained one Palestinian from Tulkarem, one from Jenin, and another from Nablus.

Rights groups such as the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, and Prisoners Support and Human Rights Association, have recently said in a report that Israeli forces have detained 590 Palestinians, including 128 children, 14 women, one lawmaker and one journalist, in the West Bank. East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip in January 2017.

The four organizations condemned what they described as Israel’s flagrant violation of the rules of international law in its treatment of the Palestinian detainees.
