Jerusalem’s Israeli municipality demolishes Arab-owned building

JERUSALEM, February 8, 2017 (WAFA) –Bulldozers for the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem Wednesday demolished an uncompleted Palestinian-owned building in the northern neighborhood of Beit Hanina in occupied Jerusalem under the pretext it was built without a permit, according to witnesses.

They said Israeli police raided the area in the morning hours to provide protection to the bulldozers as they proceeded to tear down the building, owned by Ayman Abu Rmeileh, that was built few years ago but left uncompleted at orders from the Israeli municipality.

Israeli bulldozers on Tuesday also demolished a building in Beit Hanina under the same pretext.

Palestinians say they are forced to build without a permit because getting a building permit is virtually impossible as the right-wing mayor attempts to keep the city’s Palestinian population at a bare minimum while multiplying its Jewish residents by approving the construction of thousands of new housing units in Jewish-only settlements.
