Settlers attack Palestinian journalist on a West Bank road

RAMALLAH, February 7, 2017 (WAFA) – Jewish settlers attacked on Tuesday a Palestinian journalist on a road near the settlement of Ofra, east of Ramallah.

The journalist, Zaher Abu Hussein, who works in the media department of a Palestinian non-governmental organization, told WAFA that five settlers blocked a road he was driving on and then threw rocks at him when he got out of the car.

He said he was hit in the back and on the limbs. He was taken to hospital in Ramallah for treatment.

The settlers also caused damage to his cars.

The Israeli government recently passed a law that imposes heavy prison sentence on stone throwers because it could endanger lives. However, the law seems to apply only to Palestinians throwing rocks at Israelis but not Jewish settlers attacking Palestinians.
