RAMALLAH, February 2, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli armed forces Thursday abducted two young Palestinians studying at Birzeit University, north of Ramallah after existing the western entrance to the university campus.

Witnesses told WAFA an undercover Israeli force hid in a van outside the university and kidnapped Basel Falyan who is majoring in business and economics and Tawfiq Abu Arqoub, an engineering student.

The armed soldiers fired few bullets in the air before driving away and taking the two students to an unknown destination.

Head of security in Birzeit University Mohammad Rimawi said in an official press release issued by the university that the van intercepted the two students while leaving the campus.

Mohammad al-Ahmad, dean of students’ affairs condemned what he described as a violation against the students of Birzeit in specific and the educational system in Palestine as a whole.

“The kidnapping violates all international laws and charters which deem violating academic facilities a crime.”

Al-Ahmad called on the international community to condemn this crime and put an end to its arbitrary actions and disrespect of the basic rights of the Palestinian people.
