RAMALLAH, February 1, 2017 (WAFA) – Ministry of foreign affairs Wednesday warned against Israel using the eviction of the illegal outpost of Amona to cover up the increasing settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
It said in a press release that the “random” eviction of Amona after an Israeli high court ruling must lead to finally returning back the land to its original owners. Although the land will no longer be the location of the outpost, the owners will still have no access to the land.
“Israel must not replace the illegal settlers with soldiers, especially after many failed attempt by the Israeli right and settlement organizations to fabricate ownership documents.”
It said that settlements were built illegally on lands that belong to Palestinians in a way that contradict international law.
The ministry condemned Israeli politicians’ remarks and promises to step up settlement expansion after the eviction of Amona.
“We warn the international community of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to take advantage of Amona’s eviction to cover up more settlements expansion in order to undermine the Two-State solution and foil any chance for the establishment of a viable and sovereign Palestinian state.
