Clashes in Jerusalem as Israel issues demolition orders

JERUSALEM, January 25, 2017 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians were injured, and others suffered tear gas inhalation on Wednesday during clashes with Israeli army forces in the town of Biddu and Qatana, said local sources.

National Forces Coordinator Said Yaqin said that the clashes broke out when Israeli forces raided the two villages to hand over demolition orders for five houses and orders to appear before the Israeli intelligence.

He said five families in the town of Biddu received demolition notices.

Clashes broke out when Israeli soldiers raided homes that belong to other families, one of which is the house of Sawsan Mansoor, a 17-year-old girl who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in May 2016 after she allegedly attempted to stab some of them while stationed at a military checkpoint.

Yaqin said that clashes also broke out in the town of Qatna when Israeli soldiers raided dozens of houses and shops, and handed a few Palestinians orders to appear before the Israeli intelligence.

Dozens of Palestinians were injured during the clashes in both towns, while others suffered from tear gas inhalation.
