JERUSALEM, January 4, 2017 (WAFA) – The Israeli District Court in Jerusalem Wednesday sentenced Marah Bakir, 17, to eight years in prison and a fine of $2500 for allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli.

Bakir, from Beit Hanina neighborhood of East Jerusalem, was shot and seriously wounded by Israeli security in October 2015 after she allegedly attempted to stab Israelis in Jerusalem.

Witnesses have denied the Israeli stabbing allegations and said that Jewish settlers had harassed and mocked Palestinian schoolgirls leaving Abdullah Bin al-Hussein secondary school in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the city.

One of the settlers, said the witnesses, started to shout claiming that Bakir had attempted to stab him at a bus stop when Israeli forces opened fire and seriously injuring her.
