RAMALLAH, December 21, 2016 (WAFA) – Doctors at the Israeli Assaf HaRofeh hospital had stressed the severity of the health condition of two Palestinian detainees who have been on an open-ended hunger strike for over three months to date to protest their administrative detention, the Palestinians Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission said on Wednesday.
Anas Shadid, and Ahmad Abu Farah have refrained from taking water almost nine days ago after 89 days of fast when the Israeli High Court had refused to set them free to get medical attention at a Palestinian hospital.
The doctors warned that the detainees’ life is at risk; both are bedridden and are unable to move or speak following rapid and serious deteriorations on their health.
The commission noted that the High Court is awaiting the detainees’ medical report in order to hold a hearing to decide on their case.
