RAMALLAH, December 21, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted in their Wednesday issue the visit of President Mahmoud Abbas to Saudi Arabia as well as the latest developments in the Jordanian city of Karak where four security men were killed in shoot-out with armed men.
The papers also highlighted events at Shufat refugee camp in Jerusalem where residents clashed with Israeli soldiers. One Palestinian was injured.
Al-Ayyam said the Israeli army ordered 15 Palestinian families to leave their homes in the northern Jordan Valley to make room for military drill.
It also said resident in Deir Ballout, near Salfit, received military notices that their land will be seized. It said Taysir Abdullah received an order to abandon his 82-duunum land, which is planted with 200 olive trees, under the pretext it was state land.
It said, quoting security spokesman Adnan Damiri, that two wanted gunmen in Nablus have turned themselves over to the Palestinian security.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli High Court has postponed a decision on the fate of the two striking prisoners Ahmad Abu Farah and Anas Shadid.
The papers also highlighted police interrogation of Arab member of the Israeli parliament Basel Ghattas, who is accused to smuggling cellular phones to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. They said police has banned lawmakers from visiting prisoners.
Developments with the illegal Amona settlement continue to take front page headlines in the Palestinian dailies.
Al-Quds said the Palestinian cabinet called on the Arab and Islamic countries to take a stand from plans by the new US administration to move the US embassy to Jerusalem.
It said the Israeli High Court has ruled to keep a Jerusalem family in its Old City home in spite of efforts by settlers to uproot them under the pretext the home is owned by Jews.
The three papers also reported on the Arab and European foreign ministers meeting taking place in Cairo.
