QALQILIA, November 17, 2016 (WAFA) – An Israeli court Thursday upheld a military government decision to seize 104 dunums of privately-owned Palestinian land near the village of Nabi Elias, east of Qalqilia, in the northern West Bank, according to Qalqilia governor Rafe Rawajbeh.
He said the court has rejected an appeal by the landowners against the military takeover decision to build a bypass road for Israeli settlers in the area. The court claimed the families could not prove ownership of the land and that the road was for public use, which justifies the appropriation.
“Israel blatantly disregards international law and the peace process by taking over Palestinian lands for the benefit of its settlement enterprises,” said Rawajbeh.
