Israeli Forces Detain 11 Palestinians, Shot, Injure Another in West Bank Raids

JERUSALEM, July 5, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday detained at least 11 Palestinians and shot and injured another one with live fire during overnight detention raids across the West Bank, said security sources.

Israeli police detained Odai Gheith and Bilal Gheith, both 16, from the Jerusalem town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, as well as two other Palestinians from outside Bab al-Amud (Damascus Gate).

Israeli troops also detained and handcuffed two Palestinians after storming and ransacking their houses in Qalandiya refugee camp and Hizma town, north of Jerusalem. The detainee from Qalandiya refugee camp was identified as Abdul-Rahman al-Zeir.

Meanwhile, forces raided Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank, and detained two Palestinians.

The detainees were identified as Fares Zreineh, 20, and Muhammad Kurdi, 19.

Clashes broke out in the area as soldiers stormed and ransacked several houses and fired tear gas canisters at local Palestinian youths. No injuries were reported though.

Forces also raided Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem, triggering clashes with local Palestinian youths. A 16-year-old local youth was hit and injured with a live round in the leg and several others suffocated from tear gas canisters.

In the meantime, forces stormed the Hebron village of Bani Naim, which has been under complete blockade since Muhammad Tarayra, 17, stabbed 13-year-old Israeli settlers, identified as Hallel Ariel, to death in Kiryat Arab settlement. During the raid, they detained Muhammad Hmeidat.

In the northern West Bank city of Nablus, forces detained Sharhabil Awwad, 31, after breaking into and ransacking his family house in al-Makhfiya neighborhood.

In Tubas, a Palestinian identified as Obada Daraghmeh was kidnapped by undercover Israeli forces.
