Renewing Clashes in Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, June 28, 2016 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Tuesday issue on renewing clashes which erupted at al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Monday, following a raid by Israeli police into the Islamic holy site.

They said clashes renewed at the holy site when Israeli policemen raided the compound and attacked worshipers with teargas canisters, as well as assaulted them with clubs.

Meanwhile, the dailies focused on the deal which was announced by Israel and Turkey to normalize mutual relations, following a six-year split.

They said Israel and Turkey have reached an agreement to repair ties after six years of strained relations over a deadly Israeli raid on a Turkish ship delivering aid to Gaza in 2010.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza will remain in place even after normalizing of relations with Turkey.

On a different subject, al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Egyptian authorities decided to open the Rafah border crossing, on Egypt-Gaze border, for five days.

Al-Quds said the Israeli army notified Palestinians in Khirbet Ras al-Ahmar locality, southeast of Tubas in the West Bank, to halt the construction of several residential structures.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, currently on an official visit to Palestine and Israel, called on the international community to help end the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
