UPDATE: Israel Detains 17 Palestinians in West Bank, Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, June 14, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces on Tuesday detained at least 17 Palestinians, most of them during raids across the West Bank districts and Jerusalem, according to local and security sources.

In Jerusalem area, Israeli police raided al-Issawiya neighborhood, north of the city, and detained two local Palestinians identified as Rami and Azmi Mustafa.

Israeli troops also detained a third Palestinian from the nearby town of Anata. He was not identified as Ayman Refaee.

Meanwhile on Tuesday morning, Israeli police detained Mahmoud Abu Rumeleh, an Islamic Waqf guard of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem. The police also detained two other Palestinians who were present at the Mosque. The two were not yet identified.

Witnesses told WAFA the three were detailed while attempting to confront Jewish fanatics who broke into the Islamic holy site in the morning to perform Talmudic prayers.

In the meantime, Israeli army stormed the village of Faqqu’a, east of Jenin in the West Bank, and detained two Palestinians after raiding their family homes. They were identified as Mohammad Arram, 26, and Ayman Khadour.

The army also detained Bahaa Tahayneh, 27, from the nearby town of Silat al-Harithiya, while he was attempting to enter Israel for work.

In Bethlehem area, in southern West Bank, Israeli troops stormed the village of Beit Fajjar and detained Ahmad Nasser Thawabteh, 19, after raiding and searching his family home.

Also in Bethlehem area, Israeli police detained Samer Salah, 35, and Ibrahim Salah, 30, both from the village of al-Khader, while they were attempting to enter Jerusalem for work.

In Nablus district, forces broke into the villages of Aqraba and Huwwara, where they detained Atef Deiriya, 60, and Tamer Odeh, 37, after raiding and searching their homes.

The Israeli military also stormed the town of Beit Furik, nearby, and searched several homes. There were no reports of arrests in the village.

In Tulkarm, Israeli army broke into the village of Deir al-Ghousoun and detained Ahmad Zaki Khalilia, after raiding and searching his home.

In Hebron, in southern West Bank, Israeli troops detained a woman who was identified as Wafaa Seyouri, 45.
