Man Assulted, Roughly Handled by Israeli Soldiers Dies of Heart Attack

RAMALLAH, October 15, 2015 (WAFA) – A Palestinian man early Sunday died of a heart attack, only 15 minutes after he was assaulted by Israeli army soldiers at an Israeli military checkpoint set up at the entrance of the village of al-Janya to the west of Ramallah.

Local sources told WAFA that forces detained  Reyad Dar Yousif, 46, for two hours as he, along with his family,  were on their way home from picking olives on Wednesday, where he was assaulted and subjected to acts of degradation and rough handling by Israeli soldiers.

Dar Yousif, a father of seven, was released two hours later, where within minutes; approximately 15 minutes and before he reached his home, he fell to the ground unconscious after suffering from a sudden heart attack. He was transferred to hospital for medical treatment, where he was pronounced dead early Thursday.

The death of Abu Yousif brings the total number of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October to 33 people, including seven children; 22 from the West Bank, and 11 from Gaza.

Early December 2014, Palestinian minister without portfolio Zeyad Abu Ein died due to tear gas inhalation and after being directly hit in the chest by an Israeli soldier during a peaceful protest marking the United Nations International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. He was transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

An autopsy conducted on the minister’s body revealed that he suffered from a narrowing of the coronary artery accompanied by a bleeding in the inner lining of the heart as a result of pressure that goes with cases of severe agony and distress.
