RAMALLAH, July 31, 2015 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Friday announced the Palestinian leadership would prepare a file on the latest murder of 18-month-old Ali Saeed Dawabsheh from the village of Duma, south of Nablus, who was burnt to death while sleeping by Israeli settlers, and submit it to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He said during a press conference held at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, the leadership would not remain silent, describing the crime against the Palestinian family as a ”war crime” and a “crime against humanity”.
He said, “What happened in Duma is added to a record of crimes committed by the settlers and the Israeli government, because it sponsors settlement activities and encourages settlers’ actions.”
Abbas questioned the Israeli government’s commitment to end violence, saying the Israeli government would have been able to stop settlers’ violence if it really wanted to do that.
He affirmed that the leadership would adopt a firm position in the near future, while called on the international community to act and the US to comment on the recent developments after freezing the political process.
