(WAFA) - Israeli Forces Monday arrested seven Palestinians from several towns
and villages across the West Bank during multiple raid campaigns and suffocated
residents with toxic and teargas grenades, said witnesses and local sources.
According to a security source in
the Palestinian Authority Israeli soldiers arrested 24-year-old Hamzeh Radaydi
after undergoing interrogation at the Israeli intelligence center after being summoned
earlier to the Gosh Etzion settlement bloc south of Bethlehem.
Meanwhile in Qalqilia to the
north of the West Bank, Israeli army forces arrested a Palestinian from the
town of Amatin, while raided the town of Jayous east of Qalqilia. Several
residents were ordered to refer to the Israeli intelligence as well.
The Palestinian detained in
Qalqilia was identified as Muhammad Suwan, 60. After raiding his house at 5am,
his entire house was searched and later Suwan was arrested even though his
health condition is sensitive.
Suwan’s son, Baha’ ad-Din, 33,
was arrested on Sunday as well.
Witnesses told WAFA that Jayous was
raided at 1am. The town has been under attack and frequent night raids since
the night before yesterday. Soldiers detained 10 residents and released few of them
Monday at dawn.
In Hebron, Israeli forces
arrested five. Security sources told WAFA that
the old city was raided and the two minors, Muhanad Jaber, 16, and Muhammad Abu
Atwan, 16, and Muhammad Haitham Abu Atwan were arrested. Both Abu Atwan are
residents of Dura village.
A number of residents suffered
suffocation after soldiers shot toxic grenades at unarmed residents near Abu Rish
checkpoint in the Old City in Hebron.
WAFA reporter said that the
clashes erupted after soldiers raided the area. Several residents were treated
at the scene.
According to the spokesman of the
Anti Settlement Committee in Beit Ummar Mohammed Awad, Israeli soldiers raided
the town spreading anxiety and fear among families and children in particular.
Awad said they arrested Ibrahim
Ikhlil, 17, and Omar Abu Ayyash, 19, and led them to the Etzion military camp
to the north of Hebron.
With the arrest of Ikhlil and Abu
Ayyash, the number of Beit Ummar's youth arrested since the start of the month
rose up to 38; 17 of whom are minors under the age of 18.
Soldiers also raided several
neighborhoods in Hebron and set checkpoints at the entrances of Sa’ir, Halhoul
and the entrance to the northern Hebron. Vehicles with Palestinian registration
plates were stopped and inspected causing a traffic jam.
In Bethlehem, security sources
told WAFA that Israeli soldiers summoned both Shadi Hamedi, 40, from Beit Sahour and Muhammad
el-Hilo, 38, from Jabal al-Mawaleh to refer to the Israeli intelligence, after
raiding their houses.
To the north of Bethlehem, Israeli forces broke into family houses that belong to Khalil and Samer al-Nashash, Fuad al-Adwin and Ibrahim Da’ra, while in Jenin, north of the West Bank, detained a number of residents at a checkpoint to the west.
Meanwhile, three female Palestinian worshipers were arrested while exiting al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem for attempting to fend off Israeli settlers' who broke into the holy compound.
Settlers frequent tours inside the Mosque’s compound lead to almost daily confrontations between infuriated Palestinian worshipers and Israeli police forces providing protection to settlers.
