Newspaper Review: Tit-for-tat Air Raids on Gaza and Rocket Barrage on Israel Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, July 8, 2014 – (WAFA) – Israel air raids on Gaza Strip and rocket barrage fired into Israel in a tit-for-tat attacks hit the front page headlines of Palestinian dailies.

Here are the front page headlines of the dailies.

Al-Quds

·         War looms in the region as Israel pounds Gaza with air raids and rocket barrages are fired into Israel in tit-for-tat attacks.

·         Israel and Hamas exchange threats and makes preparations - Palestinians martyred in Israeli air aggression are laid to rest as calls for retaliation intensify.

·         President ]Mahmoud Abbas[ calls Israel to immediately halt escalation and raids on Gaza.

·         Hamas sets conditions for halting escalation with Israel.

·         Access of worshippers into Al-Aqsa Mosque is restricted and settlers continue their assaulted unabated.

·         3 Israeli extremists admit that they have kidnapped and killed Abu Khdeir and re-enact the crime.

·         Knesset approves a law to deprive freed prisoners from national insurance benefits.

·         Settlers attempt to kidnap a ]Palestinian[ boy to the east of Yatta.

·         Israeli raids continue unabated and dozens of rockets are fired from Gaza.

·         President ]Mahmoud Abbas[ calls Israel to immediately halt aggression and raids on Gaza.

·         Israeli news channel 10: “Israel does not plan to carry out a large-scale operation in Gaza.”

·         Al-Karameh border crossing is closed Tuesday as a result of Israeli employees’ strike.

·         Rafah: Six members of Al-Qassam Brigades are martyred as Israel target a tunnel.

·         During a meeting with Mohammad and Tareq Abu Khdeir’s family, President ]Mahmoud Abbas[: “We will follow on Abu Khdeir’s case in order to prosecute criminals and Palestine will accede to more UN organizations.”

·         Lieberman breaks political alliance with Netanyahu but will remain in the government.

·         Mohammad Abu Khdeir’s body was burned so that his ashes would scatter in Jerusalem mountains, [said the six Israeli suspects who admitted to the crime]

·         Abu Khdeir’s family refuses to accept condolences from Peres and Netanyahu.

 

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida

·         Israel chooses war while the world is watching

·         Gaza lays nine martyrs to rest and ]Israeli[ cabinet summons hundreds of reserves.

·         President ]Mahmoud Abbas[ calls Israel to immediately halt escalation and raids on Gaza.
