Laos reaffirms unwavering support for the rights of Palestinians in various international forums

VIENTIANE, May 28, 2026 (WAFA) – The Lao People’s Democratic Republic reaffirmed its unwavering support for the national rights of the Palestinian people in various international and regional forums, emphasizing its continued support for the Palestinian people’s struggle to regain their legitimate rights.

This came during a meeting between the Vice President of Laos, Vienghong Sipahandon, and the non-resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Laos, Saadi Al-Tamizi, in the capital, Vientiane.

The two sides discussed the friendly relations and cooperation between the State of Palestine and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and ways to strengthen and develop them in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

Al-Tamizi conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership to the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Secretary-General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulit, and to the Lao leadership, emphasizing the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Al-Tamizi expressed his gratitude to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and its people for their steadfast support of the Palestinian people, especially in their struggle to establish their independent state on their land.

For its part, the Laotian leadership affirmed its commitment to supporting Palestinian national rights, noting its country's aspiration to strengthen and develop cooperative relations with the State of Palestine.

Al-Tamizi also reiterated the importance of continuing to work on strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves their common interests.
