NEW YORK, November 17, 2025 (WAFA) – Hundreds of thousands of displaced people face third winter without basics in worn-out tents in Gaza, the UN agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Monday.
“Hundreds of thousands of displaced people in #Gaza are facing a third winter without protection and the basics. Many live in worn-out tents,” it posted on X.
“Fragile shelters quickly flood, soaking people’s belongings and leaving families exposed to the cold,” it added, while stressing the urgent need for more shelter supplies.
Meanwhile, Tamara Alrifai, UNRWA Director of External Relations and Communications, said: “The recent rains have added yet another layer of vulnerability in Gaza.”
“Over 13,000 displaced families living in makeshift shelters or tents have now been affected by flooding,” she added on X.
She stressed the need for more shelter materials to be allowed into Gaza, while noting that the Agency continues work on the ground to assist affected families.
