LUXEMBOURG, October 20, 2025 (WAFA) – European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, said that options for imposing sanctions against Israel remain on the table until a real and sustained change on the ground occurs, including more aid reaching Gaza.
During press remarks following a meeting of EU foreign ministers held in Luxembourg today, Kallas noted that the European ministers assessed the situation on the ground in Gaza following the ceasefire.
On September 10, the European Commission announced proposals to impose sanctions on Israel, the occupying power.
The proposed measures included restrictions such as suspending the provisions on the free movement of goods under the EU–Israel Association Agreement, imposing customs duties, and introducing sanctions against colonists involved in seizing lands in the occupied Palestinian Territory, as well as against the two Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich.
