RAMALLAH, October 9, 2025 (WAFA) – World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy McCain expressed on Thursday the UN agency's readiness to expand its operations in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.

This came in a UN official's comment following the ceasefire agreement in the Strip. "I join UN Secretary-General António Guterres' call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza," McCain said in a post on her X account.

McCain affirmed, "We must act now to deliver food and life-saving assistance. There is no time to waste." Adding, "There is an urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian access to deliver food and life-saving assistance to the Strip."

She added that "the WFP is on the ground and ready to expand its operations, but we must act."
