BRUSSELS, September 27, 2025 (WAFA) – The European Union has emphasized the critical need to keep the King Hussein Bridge/Karama crossing between the West Bank and Jordan open to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
In a statement on Saturday, the EU said that Israel’s closure of the crossing on September 23 for both passenger and cargo traffic severely impacts freedom of movement and hampers the provision of urgently needed assistance.
The EU noted that about one quarter of humanitarian relief items entering Gaza through the UN's 2720 mechanism come via Jordan. It warned that Israel's ground offensive in Gaza City is worsening an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis, resulting in high civilian casualties and widespread suffering.
The EU called on Israel to take immediate and effective measures to increase the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
