NEW YORK, September 24, 2025 (WAFA) - Prince Albert II of Monaco condemned on Wednesday violence in the Middle East and called for a sincere relaunch of the peace process.
Speaking during general debate of the UNGA 80th session in New York, Prince Albert II stated: “In the Middle East, violence has generated unacceptable human suffering casualties. The risk of regional conflagration requires that there be an immediate de-escalation, protection of civilians, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance, and a sincere relaunch of the peace process on the basis of the two states.”
The United Nations has also promoted the importance of robust international law and human rights. It has played a key role in maintaining international peace and security and shaping democratic transitions. Its tribunals have been critical to maintaining justice, he said, calling the International Court of Justice “a pillar in the peaceful resolution of disputes”.
Highlighting gravely imperiled international security and conflicts, he said that “this makes it all the more necessary for there to be a reaffirmation of the core principles of the United Nations sovereignty of states, peaceful dispute resolution, respect for international law and human rights.”
